چکیده

Objectives: Airway management starts from the use of a nasal prong for oxygenation to successful endotracheal intubation ventilation. Intubation has been one most studied subject in anesthesiology. Various methods and gadgets have advocated its success. We aimed evaluate rate intubations using ordinary borescope stylet through Fekry Oral Intubating (FOIA) manikin.
Methodology: This manikin-based study enrolled 35 trainees, who performed guided by used FOIA as conduit. Every trainee was allowed two attempts. The primary outcome assess success intubation. Secondary outcomes included precise time intubate, number attempts, need external manipulations.
Results: Our results revealed that 62.9% participants successfully (success rate) 51.43% succeeded intubate manikin first attempt. External manipulation needed 71.4% form cricoid pressure or laryngeal movement visualize glottic view. ranged 16 120 sec with median 50 mean 69.37 ± 42.26 sec.
Conclusion: A combination Airway, an intubating can be remote areas, where advanced airway aids are not available.. Future studies warranted optimize this technique.
Trial registration: ethical approval obtained Research Ethics Committee Cairo University (Code: MD-79-2019), registration trial on www.clinicaltrials.gov (NCT05094453).
Key words: Visually assisted intubation, Borescope, Airway.

A Study to Evaluate Intubation Through Intubating Laryngeal Mask Airway Using Conventional Polyvinyl Chloride Endotracheal Tube

Background: A purposely designed wire reinforced silicone tube is available for tracheal intubation through intubating laryngeal mask airway (ILMA). However, this tube is expensive and not always available. Hence, cheaper and readily available alternatives such as conventional polyvinyl chloride (PVC) endotracheal tube should be evaluated for intubation through ILMA. Methods: After informed con...

Delayed sequence intubation: a prospective observational study.

STUDY OBJECTIVE We investigate a new technique for the emergency airway management of patients with altered mental status preventing adequate preoxygenation. METHODS This was a prospective, observational, multicenter study of patients whose medical condition led them to impede optimal preintubation preparation because of delirium. A convenience sample of emergency department and ICU patients ...

Successful tracheal intubation through an intubating laryngeal airway in pediatric patients with airway hemorrhage.

BACKGROUND This case report describes the use of the air-Q intubating laryngeal airway (air-Q ILA; Cookgas LLC, St. Louis, MO) for airway rescue and a conduit for blind tracheal intubation in two pediatric patients with failed rapid sequence intubation and difficult airways secondary to airway bleeding in the emergency department (ED). OBJECTIVES To describe the use of a new supraglottic resc...

The intubating laryngeal mask airway in failed fibreoptic intubation.

PURPOSE Prediction of difficult tracheal intubation is not always reliable and management with fibreoptic intubation is not always successful. We describe two cases in which blind intubation through the intubating laryngeal mask airway (ILMA FasTrach) succeeded after fibreoptic intubation failed. CLINICAL FEATURES The first patient, a 50 yr old man, was scheduled for elective craniotomy for i...
